That’s how Chino describes himself as a DJ.  Never afraid to go too soulful or too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy in his own unique style.  

Chino Vv, real name Toyan Greaves has made the transition from aspirant industry young blood to leading the line in Qatar’s vocal, afro & Soulful house music scene. 

Having a father figure as a DJ, Chino was exposed to an eclectic combination of 70’s & 80’s reggae sound system culture and all formats of vocal, and deep house music. 

Having passed away in 2014, Cipriani DJ from the original Earth Rockers Sound System, was still heavily involved in the London House Music scene. This bond and relationship continued to inspire Chino in 2002 to pursue his own passion & identity within music. 

Chino has evolved to become an apex Dj across all formats, including Vinyl turntables, CDJ’s and Digital controllers. Having grown up in Huddersfield, before relocating to Manchester, Chino was influenced by all formats of House music, including the following; Acid House, Hacienda classic, Vocal US House & Garage. 

“It wasn't obvious to me, the musical route I would take, however moving to Manchester in 2002 changed my world  and really opened my heart, ears and mind to the extended world of music. At this point I developed the concept and ‘Chino Vv’ & ’The Vinyl Vandals’ brand was born”. 

Chino passion for collecting vinyl, taking regular trips to London to be one step ahead of the game in the north of England, made him stand out from the rest of the young local DJs in the north, mixing a blend of vocal House and Garage music from across two decades…

HUDDERSFIELD & MY PARENTS, GAVE ME MY KNOWLEDGE AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT BECAUSE GREAT PEOPLE CAME FROM ALL OVER TO PERFORM IN HUDDERSFIELD WHICH EDUCATED MANY FROM NEAR AND FAR. Since 2002, Chino the headline DJ for “The Vinyl Vandals” has Dj across UK, Europe and recently in the Middle East, supporting acts such as Osunlade, Ralf Gum, Karizma,  Bucie, Deep City Soul, Sy Sez, Franky Rizardo, Heartless Crew, Mark Radford, Giom, Dj Spen, Amine Edge & Dance.  

Now based in Middle East, Chino has held a number of residencies at W-Hotel - Wahm, Kempinski - Secret Garden & Z-Lounge, Antica Pesa, Jazz Club & Bohemia playing the finest in soulful, deep, afro and vocal House Music, infusing the classics with the present day production. Swinging drum rhythms, huge stabs and vocals has allowed Chino to make his mark in Qatar.
