soul 1 ldn (UK) 🇬🇧 AFRO | SOULFUL | Deep - HOUSE MUSIC & Broken beat
Soul 1 LDN's Love affair with music started as an avid listener of Hip Hop in the early 90s, But the lure of the London underground garage scene in the late 90’s proved too much and Soul 1 took to the decks as a House & Garage DJ in 1998.
Soul 1’s progression from the decks to the mixing desk was a natural one, as a result Soul 1 produced / remixed music for 15 years. Soul 1's varied taste in music reflected in his production style which ranges from Deep House and Afro broken beats, Hip Hop Neo Soul, Drum and Bass to Jazz.
In 2013 Soul 1 Teamed up with Deep London Records to contribute to the release of the ‘Running Away remix EP’. The track features Sly Johnson on vocals is a single from Dilouya's 2012 Faithful Circus album. Soul 1 also had the pleasure of working with Future Vision / Prescription records producer Trinidadian Deep.
Not content with music production and regular podcasts Soul 1 created his own blog and contributed album reviews for Bamalovessoul.com which lead to interviews with well known house producer's thatmanmonkz and jimpster.
Numerous Soul 1 bootleg remixes of artists such as Jill Scott and Erykah Badu began to create waves online, but none more so than a Remix of Jazz funk group Jamiroquai classic single ‘Too young to die’. The remix was created as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the singles release and went on to receive air play on BBC 1 Xtra and a New york based internet radio station.
Collaborating with numerous producers, session musicians and song writers went a long way to help shape his production sound. This work paid off by providing remixes for soulful house vocalist Asha Edmund and the release of two EPs with 2017 La Voz semi finalist Miah.
Random fact Soul 1 had the privilege of donating his classic car for filming and being on set for the Chain smokers video Shoot for their 2015 single ‘Roses’ which has been viewed over 125 million times.
