More about Sef Kombo:

Sef Kombo: UnderDeep Guest Mix & the Journey

Few DJs have been as deeply woven into the evolution of Afro House in the UK and beyond as Sef Kombo. A close friend of the Vinyl Vandals collective, Sef's connection with the crew traces back to Huddersfield Carnival in 2012, when Lovelace (Vinyl Vandals) brought him to the Street Shuffle Party, spinning alongside Chino VV. That night marked the beginning of a musical brotherhood that has spanned over a decade, linking dance floors from House Hunting Raves to Southport Weekender (2013).

When Chino relocated to the Middle East in 2014, it wasn’t long before fate aligned once again. By 2016, Sef Kombo was making waves in the region, and the duo reunited on the decks at Secret Garden, Kempinski Marsa Malaz, The Pearl-Qatar—an unforgettable rooftop session blending deep, electronic, and percussive Afro-house vibes. Their connection continued across international stages, from The Original Festival in London (2021) to back-to-back appearances at Defected Croatia (2022 & 2023). The latest chapter of this journey unfolded in Downtown Msheireb, Doha, where UnderDeep 099 was recorded—an electrifying set showcasing exclusive cuts from Vanco, future classics from Kelvin Momo, and an expertly curated selection of Afro-house heat.

Sef Kombo: A Champion of Afro House

For more than 15 years, DJ, producer, and tastemaker Sef Kombo has been at the forefront of the Afro House movement, shaping its global presence from London to Ibiza, Berlin to Johannesburg. His impeccable selection and infectious energy have led him to share stages with Black Coffee, Themba, Culoe De Song, Thakzin, Jamiee, Mele, Black Motion, and many more. In 2024, he added Kunya and Fabric to his list of legendary venues, further cementing his reputation as a global powerhouse.

His influence stretches far beyond the booth. Sef has played an instrumental role in bringing Afro-electronic rhythms to international audiences.  Sef Kombo Radio hour #SKRH is at the heart of showcasing new music to the masses across multiple platforms.

His work with Defected Records has been pivotal in showcasing the rich textures of African dance music to the world.  That chapter with Defected Records is over, but the future as a pioneering DJ and producer is only beginning.

Sef being back in the Doha after 9 years was dope! It was a real pleasure to welcome him to the UnderDeep series Vv&OUT
