The Origins of UK Garage
Interestingly, the story of UK Garage begins in the U.S.A. The roots of UK Garage can be traced back to American house music, particularly the sound of New York garage.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the vibrant and soulful sound of house music was also blossoming in the London club scene. DJs began experimenting with different sounds and rhythms, and one of the key figures in the early development of UK Garage was DJ and producer Todd Edwards. His groundbreaking style of production, characterised by chopped vocal samples and complex rhythms, had a major influence on the emerging UKG sound.
By the early 1990s, UK Garage had officially emerged as a unique genre, showcasing its signature traits: 4/4 beats, syncopated rhythms, and soulful vocals. The tempo of UK Garage tracks exhibited versatility, with certain compositions embracing faster beats—this was referred to as "speed garage"—while other forms opted for a more relaxed pace. On the 24th December, Vinyl Vandals apparel closes its doors for the foreseeable future after 18 years of production. The primary focus will continue to be music, especially in the Middle East.
The Vv team would like to thank everyone who has been involved on this incredible journey, and the plan is to one day bring the Vv apparel back and take it to another level.
This decision has nothing to do with COVID but everything to do with the progression of Vinyl Vandals and what is needed to take the brand forward, whilst supporting the needs of founder Chino aka Toyan Greaves.

Chino Vv (Head Dj for The Vinyl Vandals) was invited to DJ at the Paris Saint Germain store in Qatar at the Villaggio Mall Doha for the launch of the PSG x Jordan collaboration.
Chino Vv was deep in the groove playing a mixture of Soulful Deep Afro House music, where he will be featured on PSG TV in the near future!
Paris Saint-Germain and Jordan Brand just made history by announcing a partnership that sees the Parisian giants become the first football club to ever land a deal with Jordan.
The unique announcement breaks new ground for football's relationship with style, with Jordan Brand's debut collection for PSG showcasing looks that work on and off pitch. The collection includes two special edition match kits, footwear and apparel. The kits feature clean black and white colorways with red accents that will be used as the club’s third and fourth kits, exclusively in the Champions League. The goalkeeper kit comes in bold Infrared, a nod to one of Jordan Brand’s heritage colors.
